Topic: Wellness in the Workplace: How to Save Injuries, Time and Money
With health care costs and insurance premiums soaring, companies must start examining what they can do to cut costs. Incorporating wellness measures into your safety program will not only save on the monetary costs associated with health care expenses, but can also reduce the severity and recovery time of musculoskeletal injuries. In this presentation, Leah Bond will take time to dispel some common myths associated with wellness, share information about evaluating your workplace wellness climate, and offers suggestions on how to offer health and wellness services to your workforce without breaking the bank.
Speaker:
Leah Bond, M.Ed., ATC, CSCS, CES. Leah has been with Tailored Injury Prevention Solutions since 2007 serving as manager and marketing coordinator for the Nebraska, Kansas and Texas divisions. Leah has a Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and her Master's Degree in Education from Arizona State University. In addition to these degrees, Leah is a Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist, Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Leah also worked as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Greek National Softball Team the competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Time:

OSHA’s rule addressing the recording and reporting of occupational injuries and illnesses affects approximately 1.4 million U.S. businesses. Are your records accurate? Do they comply with OSHA’s current standards? Doug Fletcher, OSHA Compliance Assistance Specialist for Nebraska will shed some light on the various programs and initiatives that are in place to address the issue of inaccurate recording of occupational injuries and illnesses. Join us to learn more about the Injury and Illness Recordkeeping NEP, ODI, the OSH Act of 1970, recordkeeping regulations in 29 CFR 1904 and 1952 and how they affect your business.

Doug Fletcher, Nebraska Department of Labor Doug Fletcher is with Occupational Safety & Health Administration - Nebraska. Doug currently serves as Compliance Assistance Specialist for Nebraska and is responsible for voluntary compliance programs, partnerships, alliances, outreach, and VPP. He began with OSHA as a Compliance Officer and Industrial Hygienist and has been with the Omaha office for 13 years. Previous employers include Terracon Environmental, US Dept. of Defense, and Ohio State University. His education includes a BS of Microbiology from Tulsa University and an MS of Molecular Genetics from Ohio State University; he is also a Certified Safety Professional and a Certified Industrial Hygienist.
