In todays world, we must expect the unexpected. Violence has become an unfortunate occurrence in not only the places we live, worship and play, but also in the workplace as well. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has determined that workers have a right to be free from recognized hazards and it is the employer’s responsibility to protect their employees from these hazards. Violence is no different. In "Shots Fired: A Proactive Approach to Active Shooters," Executive Leadership, Managers, Team Leads, and Line employees will learn valuable skills to not only recognize signs of a potential actively violent person, but survive an encounter, should one present itself at the workplace. While attending the 4-hour course, "Shots Fired: A Proactive Approach to Active Shooters," attendees will be instructed on:

  • Identifying hazards and behaviors that could indicate violence
  • Stress, physical indications and violent behaviors
  • Mental preparation, planning and color codes for conditioning in an active shooter situation
  • Adapt, improvise and overcome direct contact with an active shooter
  • “The 5 second rule for hiding”
  • Mindset for surviving a violent encounter
  • Situational awareness and the workplace
  • “4 C’s”- Credible threats, contact, concealment and cover
  • Elevated shooters and ambush situations
  • Self defense and escape routes

When staff is properly trained, the environment in which they work improves and the threat of conflict, violence, and litigation is greatly reduced. The benefits of "Shots Fired: A Proactive Approach to Active Killers" is not just limited to the workplace, but extends to one’s personal life by having the necessary skills to deal with difficult situations that can arise off the job. By using this process, you can learn how to adapt, improvise and overcome if this challenge arises.
