The Peak Award is Nebraska Safety Council’s premier award for safety, presented to member companies who demonstrate that they are the State’s leaders in safety. Companies who are recipients of the Peak Award have not only gone above and beyond 50% below their NAICS code for DART (Days Away, Restricted Time) and TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) but also have established outstanding training programs and Safety Committee’s!

The Nebraska Safety Council Peak Award is perfect for companies who have demonstrated that they provide training to employees so that they are able to not only handle projects safely at work, but also looks at the total employee and safety outside of the job. How a company pursues safety and recognizing that safety doesn’t stop when the employee punches the clock is what helps push the company to truly be one of the States’ safest companies.

To even be considered for the Peak Award, companies must provide documentation and successfully demonstrate that they have been 50% below the DART and TRIR for the past three years of OSHA 300A logs. They have shown that employees have attended and completed OSHA training and have gone above and beyond in seeing that employees have been trained. Companies must exhibit that they have a very active Safety Committee meeting at least monthly and are actively improving the workplace culture and are driven to affect change in the workplace.

Companies receiving the Peak Award have been actively encouraging and recording the number of near misses for the past 3 years, hazard corrections from the past 3 years and how they have been encouraging worker safety and wellness not only at work, but also at home.

The Star Award is the Nebraska Safety Council’s is presented to member companies who demonstrate that they have made great strides to become leaders in safety. Companies who are recipients of the Peak Award have gone 50% below their NAICS code for DART (Days Away, Restricted Time) and TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) and established dedicated and active training programs and Safety Committee’s!

The Nebraska Safety Council Star Award is perfect for companies who have demonstrated that they provide training to employees to make sure employees stay safe at work but have also taken steps to protect employees off the clock as well. They have implemented programs, such as a PPE take home program, to keep people safe 24/7.

To be considered for the Star Award, companies must provide documentation and successfully demonstrated that they have been 50% below the DART and TRIR for the past two years of OSHA 300A logs. Companies must exhibit that they have an active Safety Committee meeting at least monthly and are making decisions that improve the workplace culture, by participating in audits, managing safety competitions or other tasks to demonstrate that they are diving the culture in the workplace.

Companies receiving the Star Award have installed near misses over the past 2 years and have trained their employees in hazard corrections and demonstrated that they have been encouraging an upward safety trend.

As its name implies, The Emerging Award is the Nebraska Safety Council’s award for companies who have begun to develop safety programs. The Emerging Award is presented to member companies who demonstrate that they are taking the steps to maintain a rate of 50% below their NAICS code for DART (Days Away, Restricted Time) and TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) and established a Safety Committee’s!

The Emerging Award demonstrates that the company has demonstrated that they have a safety committee that is active and empowered to make change.

To be considered for the Emerging Award, companies must provide documentation and successfully demonstrate that they can maintain a DART and TRIR below the national average for the past two years of OSHA 300A logs. The company has established policies and procedures, as well as a commitment to safety through employee training and has established a Safety Committee that meets at least quarterly. Employees are encouraged to report near misses and make hazard corrections.

The Spirit Award is the Nebraska Safety Council’s award for company’s making strides toward growing safety. The Spirit Award is presented to member companies who demonstrate that they are taking the steps to become the future leaders in safety. Companies who are recipients of the Spirit Award have demonstrated that they can maintain a rate of 50% below their NAICS code for DART (Days Away, Restricted Time) and TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) and established dedicated training programs and Safety Committee’s!

The Spirit award demonstrates that the company has taken the beginning steps to not only ensure that their employees are receiving adequate training but has demonstrated that they have a safety committee that is taking steps to ensure that the employees are safe, and the committee has been empowered to make change.

To be considered for the Spirit Award, companies must provide documentation and successfully demonstrate that they can maintain a DART and TRIR below the national average for the past two years of OSHA 300A logs. Employees are receiving training to remain safe at work and at home and have established a Safety Committee that meets at least every other month and is taking steps to make positive changes in the workplace.
