It's a challenge to balance teens' activity schedules around classroom times or find a course that offers flexibility for different learning styles. Now there's an online Teen Driver Education option that allows students to complete the classroom portion online over a 60-day time period.

In addition to the online classroom, students are required to complete Behind-the-Wheel Driving. This includes 5 hours of hands-on driving, 5 and a half hours of observation, and a 1/2 hour Behind-the-Wheel test.

Registration Information

  • Advance registration and payment required.
  • Students must possess a learner's permit to register and complete the course.
  • Registration is a 4-step process:
    • First Step – Register your student for the classroom portion of course.
    • Second Step – Now that you have registered for your class, you will receive an email from the Nebraska Safety Council up to 24 hours after the registration cut off date that contains a link and unique code to complete the online course. If you do not receive an email, check your spam filter. Students must complete the course within 60 days of receiving their unique code.
    • Third Step - Behind-the-wheel drive times can only be selected after course completion. Please call Ms. Dusty Hegwood, 402-483-2511 ext. 107 to schedule drive times. Students must have a valid learner's permit on them when completing time behind-the-wheel with our trained instructors. It is recommended that students have 30 hours of drive time with a trusted adult before scheduling with our office. Once drive times are selected, any changes will incur a $75.00 dollar fee. It is important to be available during your students drive time in the event the other student driver is a no show. The two deep policy is necessary for the safety of all. If one student does not show then both students can lose their behind-the-wheel time with the instructor.  A parent can ride along if this ocurs. Once a student has successfully completed the behind-the-wheel time, it takes 10-14 business days to process the paperwork with the Department of Motor Vehicles in Nebraska. You will receive a completion certificate and an email with a link once all paperwork has been processed and sent to the DMV.
    • Fourth Step - Parents will receive a link to the Driver's Education Parent Agreement PolicyCarefully read the document in full, then sign and send the document with your student to the first drive-time appointment.

We offer in-person driver education at select locations. This is a great option for students who learn best in a classroom setting. This gives the student an opportunity to converse with the instructor and peers.
