Carefully follow the steps below - you will need approximately 15-30 minutes to prepare for the online course.

These need to be done PRIOR to the day of class.

  1. Download Zoom.
  2. Download and save course resources.
  3. Complete any necessary troubleshooting or ask questions before the day of your course.

IMPORTANT: Our staff is only available to troubleshoot application issues during normal business hours (M-F, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.). It is your responsibility to test the application and complete troubleshooting prior to the date of your class.

If you registered an employee other than yourself for this training, please forward all confirmation emails, as they contain important information and links.

Below are detailed steps for you to follow:

  1. Download the Zoom app ahead of time onto your computer, phone or tablet (app will provide best experience and is recommended, you can use a web browser but may experience issues).
    1. Download Zoom for iOS.
    2. Download Zoom for Android.
    3. Test using the application/program. This means logging into the app, following the setup steps that allow it to access both your camera and microphone.
    4. If you experience any issues or have questions on using the app, contact the Nebraska Safety Council during business hours at 402.483.2511.
  2. Download and save course resources that were linked in your confirmation email.
  3. Attend a full online class.
    1. We recommend you join 5-10 minutes early.
    2. Class activities/participation will require students to have paper and a writing utensil ready.
  4. When you join the course in Zoom, please:
    1. Announce yourself.
    2. Mute your line.
    3. Use the chat function for any questions.
    4. Wait for the instructor to start the course.
    5. Please keep your line muted unless you are participating so all students can have a good audio experience.

Additional considerations:

  • Think about where you set up to take this class: choose an environment that eliminates distractions (other people, noises, etc).
  • Dress appropriately - not only can our instructor see you but so can other students, just like an in-person classroom.
  • Wi-fi/cellular data can sometimes be unreliable, if you can, use a hard connection (connect to the router with a cable).
  • Ensure your laptop/tablet/phone can easily be connected to a power source to stay powered for the full class.
