The Peak Award is Nebraska Safety Council’s premier award for safety, presented to member companies who demonstrate that they are the State’s leaders in safety. Companies who are recipients of the Peak Award have not only gone above and beyond 50% below their NAICS code for DART (Days Away, Restricted Time) and TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) but also have established outstanding training programs and Safety Committee’s!

The Nebraska Safety Council Peak Award is perfect for companies who have demonstrated that they provide training to employees so that they are able to not only handle projects safely at work, but also looks at the total employee and safety outside of the job. How a company pursues safety and recognizing that safety doesn’t stop when the employee punches the clock is what helps push the company to truly be one of the States’ safest companies.

To even be considered for the Peak Award, companies must provide documentation and successfully demonstrate that they have been 50% below the DART and TRIR for the past three years of OSHA 300A logs. They have shown that employees have attended and completed OSHA training and have gone above and beyond in seeing that employees have been trained. Companies must exhibit that they have a very active Safety Committee meeting at least monthly and are actively improving the workplace culture and are driven to affect change in the workplace.

Companies receiving the Peak Award have been actively encouraging and recording the number of near misses for the past 3 years, hazard corrections from the past 3 years and how they have been encouraging worker safety and wellness not only at work, but also at home.
