Smoking remains the leading preventable cause of death and disease in the U.S. Quitting can be difficult, but there are proven strategies to help people quit successfully. Although a majority of smokers make a quit attempt each year, more than two-thirds of adult cigarette smokers are not using evidence-based treatment to quit.
Smoking impacts our workforce on and off the job. A recent study found that the average smoker will cost their employer approximately $6,000 per year in excess medical bills and lost productivity. They will outpace coworkers by three days per annum in taking sick leave. An effective tobacco cessation program can truly impact your bottom line.
